Training Programs
What programs are included?
Axis Training ships with five ready-to-go programs:
- Roman — 20 min, dumbbells, balanced Push/Pull/Full splits
- Viking — 25 min, dumbbells, high-volume compound lifts with 4 rounds
- Ninja — 18 min, no equipment, pure bodyweight calisthenics
- Spartan — 18-20 min, dumbbells, tempo-focused with slow negatives
- Gladiator — 20 min, dumbbells + pull-up bar, 20 unique exercises per session
What equipment do I need?
It depends on the program. Ninja requires no equipment at all. Roman, Viking, and Spartan use dumbbells. Gladiator uses dumbbells and a pull-up bar. Choose the program that fits what you have.
How often do I train?
All programs follow a 3 days on / 4 days recovery weekly structure (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). Recovery days offer optional activities: cardio, HIIT, or REHIT sprint intervals.
Can I create my own program?
Yes. You can create fully custom programs with your own exercises, intervals, rounds, and schedules.
Workout Experience
How does the workout player work?
The workout player is a full-screen guided timer with a visual countdown circle and work/rest indicators. Voice cues announce transitions — "3... 2... 1... Go!", "Rest", "Round complete". You can pause, skip, or finish at any time.
Can I log weights during the workout?
Yes. During rest periods, you can log weights and reps inline while it's still fresh. After finishing, you rate difficulty (1-5 stars), enter any remaining weights/reps, and add notes.
Can I swap exercises mid-workout?
Yes. During any exercise, you can swap it for a recommended alternative without stopping your workout. The app suggests alternatives from its library of over 150 exercises.
Nutrition Tracking
Do I have to track every macro?
No. You choose your tracking level:
- Calories Only — The simplest option for weight management
- Calories + Protein — Recommended for most people focused on body composition
- Full Macros — Protein, carbs, and fat for detailed tracking
How do I log food?
Multiple ways:
- Built-in database — 100+ common foods across proteins, grains, fruits, and vegetables
- Barcode scanning — Scan any product using the Open Food Facts database
- Custom foods — Add your own with custom nutrition values
- Favorites — Quick access to foods you eat often
- Meal templates — Log common meals in one tap
How are my calorie targets calculated?
The built-in macro calculator generates personalized daily targets based on your age, gender, height, weight, activity level, and goal (get lean, maintain, or build muscle).
Progress Tracking
What progress can I see?
The app tracks:
- Workout history — Every completed workout with exercise-by-exercise detail, weights, reps, duration, and difficulty ratings
- Nutrition history — 14-day rolling view with calories and macros vs. targets, meal-by-meal breakdown
- Dashboard stats — Workouts this week, minutes trained, all-time count, and a color-coded weekly schedule
Settings & Personalization
Can I use kilograms instead of pounds?
Yes. You can toggle between lbs and kg in the settings.
Can I switch programs?
Yes. You can switch between any of the five built-in programs or your custom programs from the home dashboard at any time.
Can I adjust my nutrition targets?
Yes. You can set targets manually or use the built-in macro calculator to generate personalized recommendations.
